Retorno aos espíritos — Return to the Spirits — is as much built as painted: braided textures, layered relief and metallic ambers give the surface the weight of carved wood. Faces emerge side by side, eyes closed or lowered, as if mid-ceremony. Silva Dunduro's largest work in the sale treats material itself as ancestral matter — a painting that asks for time and closeness.

Silva Dunduro (b. 1964, Búzi, Sofala) is a painter and cultural leader — founding member of the Núcleo de Artes Plásticas da Beira (1989) and former Minister of Culture and Tourism of Mozambique. He has exhibited in Mozambique, Italy, Namibia, Portugal and Sweden.
