Ulisses

Mascara VIII rounds the mask series toward the shield: a broad, shoulder-like form in deep umber and rust, crossed by a single horizontal band of metal and bead. The symmetry is bodily — one reads shoulders, crown, jaw — while the weathered surface keeps the object's history deliberately unreadable. Mask, shield or door: the work lets all three stand.
