Bela Rocha

O tempo é um contar de histórias — Time Is a Telling of Stories — announces its intention in its title: this is painting as narrative act, as the accumulation of voices, memories and moments that together constitute the experience of living. Painted in 2024, the work belongs to a present fully inhabited — not looking back, but working with what is here.
In acrylic on canvas, Bela Rocha builds a surface of layered colour and mark, the hundred-centimetre square field holding the pressure of a composition that refuses easy resolution. The work draws the eye inward, then outward, tracing the rhythm of a story that continues beyond its edges. Time, here, is not measured — it is narrated.
